Since moving to Bend nearly 10 years ago, I have worked extensively on improving health care in our region as a physician and fighting to preserve the livability and prosperity of our community as city councilor. But there’s more work to do.
We need to make Bend affordable for everyone who lives and works here — in housing, health care, and cost of living — better fund our schools, and put more teachers in our classrooms. I want to do that representing Bend in the Oregon State legislature.
Since joining the Bend City Council in 2014, I have led policy efforts to increase affordable housing and helped strategically expand Bend’s urban growth boundary while protecting our natural environment, providing more buildable land, preventing urban sprawl and improving transportation and new infrastructure throughout Bend. I championed changes to better regulate vacation rental properties and provide renter protections so residents aren’t forced to move away from Bend while we address our housing crisis.
Prior to medical training, I earned a graduate degree in environmental science and was a whitewater river guide and ski patroller. I have worked in urban planning, watershed management, and health policy. I sit on the boards of the Deschutes River Conservancy and Upper Deschutes Watershed Council.
When I am not working on behalf of my patients at Mosaic Medical or serving the residents of Bend, you can find me on the trails, rivers, and mountains that make Bend so special.
